Assignment 310 Photo Image Output.

Printing your images is one of the most important things you can do.  After capturing good quality images you don't want to ruin them with poor printing.  Having a good set-up on the printing front is essential, by having your monitor colour corrected, this will give you good results.  A software called Huey corrects the colour on your monitor so photo's  and designs are more accurate.  Huey adapts your monitor for changing room lighting and applies your personal preferences for viewing accurate colour all of the time.

This does not stop there, as you have to have a good quality printer, Epson and Canon do excellent printers and at good prices, the only draw back with these printers are the price of the cartridges.  Again this does not stop there if you want to have excellent print outs you can have these printers profiled.  By using the same cartridges and the same sort of paper, you can send off to have your printer profiled.  By doing this, what you see on the screen you get on the paper.  A draw back could be that you have to use the same cartridges and paper that you sent off to get excellent images, if you change the ink or paper then you will have to have them profiled again.

There are many sorts of good quality paper sheets to choose from photo Gloss, Photo Matt, Achieve, and Premium Gloss Photo Paper.  This all depends on your personal test.  Size of the prints with digital images are varied and  providing you have shot the pictures on a large format with a  (10-12 million pixel camera) then you can have large quality print outs.  Again this is a personal preference.  This can range from A4, A3 to A2.

You don't have to invest in all of the above, you can go some where and have them processed, but, this could be very costly and there is something good about processing them yourself.

All the above mentioned will need a good quality program to run from, the software is also very important depending again on cost the Photoshop range is first class.  This starts at about £80 pounds and can go up too £2,000 plus depending on your personal needs and cost.

The out puts that I have are:  All the pictures will be printed out on a A2 format and  displayed, they are being displayed on screens around the college foyer at the Burton and South Derbyshire college.  I have had some calenders printed off at Click and Richardson's Pharmacy Photographic departments.  These images have been displayed on flicker and the blogger site for people to see.  you can display images through internet sites by doing this they will seen world wide.

There are some photographs I have taken in an exhibition around the College on different floors, I have also published photo's through Bob's Books, there I have published calenders and a photo album.  I have printed a lot of my own work and given people prints, I also have framed some of the images that I have taken and sold the odd one or two.

  1. Hi
As we discussed can you look at labs online and what they can offer as far as output. Everything from framing to types of print surface will need to be added here. Also look at the type of printers available as home or college printers and how to set up and use them.
Discuss how you intend to display your work, and the calender options you can find to display your work, can you also screen grab the various sites you visit and load them onto your site.
